Thinner lips are a common sign of ageing, often leaving individuals longing for a fuller, more youthful appearance. At Dr Ed Robinson Clinics in Hale, near Altrincham, we specialise in non-surgical treatments to enhance and rejuvenate thin lips.
Understanding Thin Lips
As we age, several anatomical changes contribute to thinner lips:
-
VOLUME LOSS
With age the lips lose volume and the border softens, so they can look thinner. -
COLLAGEN LOSS
Reduced collagen production leads to less plump and firm lips. -
DECREASED HYALURONIC ACID
This essential component for hydration diminishes over time, causing a loss of fullness and small lips. -
ELASTICITY REDUCTION
The skin around the lips loses elasticity, contributing to fine lines and a less defined lip contour. -
STRUCTURAL CHANGES
Natural reshaping of the facial bone structure with age can alter appearance leading to thinner lips

FAQs
For more general enquiries, please take a look at some of our frequently asked questions.
Will lip filler make my lips look overdone?
Not with our approach. Dr Ed Robinson focuses on balance and proportion, using small amounts to restore shape and hydration. If treatment would not suit you, we will tell you.
How long does lip filler last?
Usually around 6 to 12 months, depending on the product used and how quickly your body naturally breaks it down.
Does lip filler hurt?
Most lip fillers contain local anaesthetic and we use numbing cream first, so most people find it very manageable.
What should I avoid before and after lip filler?
Please avoid alcohol for 48 hours before and 48 hours after treatment, and avoid exercise and getting hot for 48 hours afterwards. Some swelling and bruising is normal for a few days.
Can lip filler be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if needed. Dr Ed is experienced in managing complications, including with ultrasound.
Where can I have lip filler near Altrincham?
Dr Ed Robinson Clinics is in Hale, near Altrincham, about 15 to 20 minutes on foot from Hale station. All lip treatments are carried out by a doctor.
