FACIAL REJUVENATION: PRP therapy offers a non-surgical and natural solution for facial rejuvenation. By injecting PRP into specific areas of the face, we can stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture and tone, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Experience a fresher, more youthful complexion with PRP facial rejuvenation treatments.

HAIR RESTORATION: Hair loss can be distressing, but PRP therapy offers a breakthrough solution. By injecting PRP directly into the scalp, we can stimulate hair follicles, promote hair growth, and increase hair thickness and density.

SCAR IMPROVEMENT: PRP therapy has shown remarkable success in reducing the appearance of post-acne scarring or surgical.

Jenny’s Story

Dr Ed Robinson Cheshire Jenny Powell

“Dr. Ed has been the most informed and considerate doctor administering my polynucleotides / PRP and micro-needling. I have only ever had one treatment of profhilo previously and was hesitant and wary until I met with him. He is so knowledgeable in his field but also takes a very considered interest in you as an individual and your particular needs, concerns and results!

I cannot recommend him enough and he has opened my eyes to the fact that if you find the right doctor for these natural, enhancing and rejuvenating treatments then there’s no looking back. I am nothing but elated by what we have achieved so far and look forward to sharing an incredible journey with him to make the most of what we have. It’s a beautiful thing! Thank you Ed.”

PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP) TREATMENT IN CHESHIRE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Treatment length depends on the individual but usually takes about an hour, including venepuncture, centrifuge time and injecting the PRP.

PRP may be combined with SkinPen microneedling which will therefore take longer (up to 90 minutes).

I can give you an idea of how long a treatment will take during your consultation.

  • Plateler-Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) uses the body’s own blood, spun in a centrifuge to separate it into the liquid part (plasma) and red blood cells. The plasma contains platelets and growth factors which play an important part in cellular recovery and wound healing.

As it is specific to the patient, there is no chance of an allergic reaction and PRP is very well tolerated.

PRP may be injected under the skin to rejuvenate the face and treat signs of ageing.

PRP may also be injected into the scalp to help support hair growth and combat hair loss.

There is a role in promoting scar and stretchmark healing although this is best done by combining PRP with SkinPen microneedling.

A ‘Vampire Facial’ involves SkinPen microneedling to the face, followed by topical application of platelet-rich plasma.

  • Please come to the clinic without make-up as this will have to be removed if treating the face.

    Ensure you are well-hydrated.

Avoid the use of skincare active ingredients on the day and stop any retinol-containing products 24 hours before-hand.

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to treatment as this will increase your risk of bruising.

If undergoing scalp treatment, please ensure the hair is clean and free of hair products.

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy starts with venepuncture (having your blood taken). I use a small needle to facilitate this and cause minimal discomfort.

The blood will be collected in bottles which is then spun at high speeds in a centrifuge.

Once the blood has been spun, the PRP is extracted.

The treated area will be cleaned with anti-septic solution first.

A small needle will be used to inject the PRP into the skin or scalp.

  • PRP Treatments usually last for 4-6 months but sometimes longer. It is variable depending on the individual.

Lifestyle factors such as physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, recreational drug use and sun exposure will result in a shorter duration of action.

  • There is usually some mild inflammation which settles after 24-48 hours.

Over-the-counter antihistamines and anti-inflammatories can help calm down inflammation.

Avoid the use of active skin ingredients on the day of treatment.

Avoid alcohol-consumption for 24-48 hours as this increases your chance of bruising.

Avoid strenuous activity, saunas/steam rooms which may promote sweating as this increases your risk of bruising.

Avoid hair products apart from gentle shampoo (preferably baby shampoo) on the day of treatment.

  • PRP usually takes 4-6 weeks to have a noticeable effect, particularly the scalp as it takes time for your follicles to enter and pass through their growth phase.

Usually multiple PRP treatments are recommended initially on a monthly basis e.g. 3-4 treatments.

Mild swelling may occur initially which usually calms down after 48 hours.

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy starts at £350 per treatment but discounts are available for multiple treatments. You will be advised on a price based on your bespoke consultation.

Please see the pricing section for all prices.

  • Platelet-rich plasma treatments may be somewhat uncomfortable but usually not painful.

As an anaesthetic doctor I am well placed to reduce anxiety and pain during procedures using a number of techniques.

Numbing cream may be applied before the procedure, although usually this is not necessary.

  • Absolutely! Platelet-rich Plasma Therapy is a popular treatment for men and has been shown to be effective for alopecia and androgenic hair loss (male pattern baldness).

Book a consultation to see what other treatments may be suitable.

  • In the hands of an experienced, medically trained injector PRP therapy is a safe, well-studied treatment and side effects are rare.

PRP is extracted from the patient’s own blood products which occur naturally in the body.

PRP may not be used in patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Most common side effects are mild and short-lived. As a trained medical professional, I am well positioned to minimise these risks.

    Side-effects include:

    • Bruising or swelling at the site of injection

    • Infection

    • Scarring
