Vitamin Therapy involves a prepared infusion of vitamins and electrolytes being delivered intravenously over approximately a 30 minute period.
This will require the insertion of a cannula (a small plastic tube attached to a needle) into a peripheral vein. usually this is in the arm or back of the hand.
You will be monitored throughout the infusion to ensure there is no reaction to treatment.
Once the infusion has run through, the cannula will be removed and pressure applied to the site.
-
This varies depending on the indication for the infusion. I do not recommend treatment more than once per month.
-
There is no downtime after IV vitamin therapy.
-
IV Vitamin therapy starts at £250. Please see the pricing section for all treatment prices.
-
The insertion of a peripheral cannula may be slightly uncomfortable but usually not painful.
I am well-experienced with cannula insertion as an anaesthetic doctor and have ways to minimise discomfort.
-
All of the components of the infusion are well-tolerated and safe to use.
You will be monitored by myself throughout to ensure no adverse reactions.
The risk of an allergic reaction is very rare in which case I am trained to manage this complication.
-
Possible (but rare) side effects including infection, bleeding or inflammation at the cannula insertion site.
Posssible (but rare) side effects from the infusion include allergic reaction, low blood pressure and a temporary sensation of pins and needles, or mild aching at the infusion site.
